Whether it’s public or private sector, people expect an efficient, forthright, high-quality service with their quality of life at its very centre. On an individual basis this sounds perfectly manageable, but when we throw in emergencies, lengthy appointments, sudden changes to schedule, reprioritising entire workloads – and the countless other variables we might face in a typical working day, our usually strong personalities can be tested.

In the news: Healthcare training more important than ever
For the first time on record, more midwives and nurses in the UK are leaving the profession than joining it. Between 2016 and 2017, around 20 per cent more staff left the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, than joined it – including a rise in the number of nurses and midwives who left before retirement age.
National Blood Week 2017
This year, the NHS are running National Blood Week from June 19-25, encouraging people from all over the UK to donate at their local clinic. Straight after the World Health Organisation hosted World Blood Donor Day, on June 14, it certainly appears to be the time to spread the word and inspire people to get involved, and give blood.
UK Diabetes Week
From Sunday June 11 to Saturday June 17, Diabetes UK are promoting Diabetes Week with the commanding theme: “Know diabetes – Fight diabetes”.
National Heart Rhythm Week
June 5 – 11 is Arrhythmia Alliance’ National Heart Rhythm Week, and the specific focus for 2017 is on: ‘Identifying the Undiagnosed Person’.
