Mental Health in the workplace
Mental Health problems within the workplace are not uncommon. According to Mind, as many as one in six employees are experiencing mental health related issues right now.
However, it is still not common practice to discuss these concerns.
Despite the natural rewards and sense of purpose provided by employment, it can come with additional, perhaps unexpected stress. The combination of motivation to succeed, and apprehension of approaching a taboo subject, can lead to problems communicating and integrating in the workplace – as well as accomplishing targets.
With close to half a million people reportedly suffering work related stress, depression, or anxiety, per year, the total number of subsequently lost working days is well over 10M.
As a result, it is important that workforces are properly equipped to envisage, discuss, and address these issues. In order to do so, empathy, compassion, and knowledge must be applied.
At Hygia Healthcare Training, we provide the tools required to build these imperative, practical functions. Our Train the Trainer options inspire people to become confident, efficient communicators of even the most difficult issues that can arise in the workplace. We believe that compassion is essential, but change is possible, and provide the confidence and psychosocial mechanisms prescribed to do so.
All of our Train the Trainer options are enlivening, engaging, and accredited for anyone tasked with delivering presentations to peers or colleagues. With the stigma of mental health creating barriers between knowing, and communicating a problem, having people on hand who are equipped to recognise, empathise, and sensitively address the problem can be as advantageous to an employer, as a role is too an employee.
