August has been a relatively quiet month in terms of Health Awareness events. While it may seem as though there is a now national day for Everything, when it comes to raising awareness of Health and Healthcare, there can never be enough. Next month, September is brimming with positive, supportive events!

Throughout September, it is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, focussing on the mental health and emotional impact of childhood cancer on the whole family, as well as the awareness months for Vascular Disease, Blood Cancer, and CMT – which aims to raise awareness for the most common inherited neurological condition in the UK (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease).

Oddfellows have also designated September as Friendship Month, in the hope that as many as possible of the 9M in the country who are often, or always lonely, are reached out to by old-acquaintances, or new friends in the local community.

Worldwide, it is Alzheimer’s Awareness month too – with World Alzheimer’s Day itself falling on September 21st.

From September 4th to 10th, it is Migraine Awareness and Organ Donation week, with Sexual Health week starting on the 11th. World Lymphoma Day in on the 15th of the month, the same week as National Eczema Week, starting on the 17th, and European Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week.

National Eye Health Week kicks off on the 18th of the month, overlapping Jeans for Genes Day, on the 22nd, and making way for Urology Week, on the 25th. Mesothelioma Awareness Day is on September 26th, and the month draws to a close with World Heart Day, on the 29th.

With so many events to get involved in during the month, there must be a topic close to the hearts of everyone, somewhere in the above. At Hygia Healthcare Training, we admire and promote the positivity of these events – and always aim to similarly increase the awareness of diseases and illnesses in our training courses.

By continuing to pass the message on, we can all give hope, and help, to those who need it most, anywhere.
